EDMONTON: So, it turns out Alberta Premier Danielle Smith won’t be attending Donald Trump’s inauguration after all. The weather in Washington, D.C. is looking pretty rough, with bitter cold expected.

She was supposed to be there, but her press secretary, Sam Blackett, mentioned that most ticketed guests can’t go because the ceremony is being moved indoors to the Capitol Rotunda. Unfortunately, that includes Smith.

But don’t worry, she’s still planning to hit up an event at the Canadian Embassy on the same day. Smith is in Washington for five days, meeting with political and energy leaders to promote what they’re calling an “era of partnership.”

Earlier this week, she made waves by not signing a joint statement with other premiers and the prime minister. She’s standing firm against Trump’s potential tariffs on Canadian goods, saying that everything is on the table.
